The Dance Academy of North Jersey is based in Northwest New Jersey conveniently accessible from Morris, Sussex and Passaic County. DANJ offers classes for beginning students to the advanced and competitive levels. Our classes include a wide variety of dance styles to learn and grow with -- from Hip Hop to Modern, Tap to Jazz, Contemporary to Lyrical and many others. With the experienced guidance of our professional faculty, you can be sure of the best instruction around.

At DANJ, your child is our main concern. It is our goal to teach beginner through advanced levels fairly and equally. Your child will learn in a fun and clean environment as they progress and develop their technical abilities. You will be able to see and enjoy your child's accomplishments -- culminating in our annual Showcase. Dance is not the only feature of our studio; our students also learn how to work together as a team, build self-confidence, poise, and discipline.

Throughout the course of a year, we offer master classes taught by guest professionals from across the country, including well known favorites like Chaz Buzan, Dee Caspary, Jenn Freeman, Jess LeProtto and many others. They each bring different styles of dance and teaching. These classes are open to everyone, guests as well as DANJ students.

Our end of year “Showcase” is for all students who wish to participate. It is a way for students to show their friends and family what they have learned throughout the year. The showcase is also an opportunity to observe many of our students from beginners to advanced. Our teachers choose the music and costumes appropriate for each age group in addition to choreographing each routine performed in the showcase. Tickets can be purchased at a reasonable price, so family members and friends can enjoy the performance. Your child will be part of a professional experience and show pride in their accomplishments when he or she takes their final bow.

We are proud that DANJ has become recognized as one of the premier dance studios in the region. Our focus over the past two years has been on identifying and recruiting the best dance faculty in the industry. For our ‘Young Dancers,”  we have developed an innovative curriculum that offers young children an exciting and enriching introduction to dance. These programs start at age two and include a Mini Team that provides an opportunity for dancers to begin competing at age five.

For our more experienced dancers, our faculty includes performers and choreographers from On and Off Broadway, top dance companies and university programs like Juilliard, Tisch, Ailey, UCLA and University of the Arts. Dancers interested in competing in specific forms of dance will appreciate our new Tap, Hip Hop and Ballet 'specialty' programs. Recognizing the importance of flexibility and strength, we have added a new ‘Conditioning for Dancers’ curriculum.

After three wonderful years co-sponsoring the Performing Hearts Challenger Dance Program with Jefferson Township, we will be expanding our reach in 2012-13 by teaming with Sparta Township on a similar program. The Challenger Program provides creative rhythm and movement workshops for girls and boys living with physical or mental challenges. Many of our company dancers have volunteered and made a huge difference in our community!

Our happiest times are in the classroom with your children creating and choreographing new routines. We enjoy watching young dancers grow into wonderful young adults. Some of our dancers have continued onto Broadway, Dance Companies, Film, Commercials, Cruise Lines and Dance Teams. Some have become Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers and many other occupations. We take pride in nurturing children not only in dance but also in life. Our dancers have become a part of our lives -- part of our studio and part of our dance family. We hope we have touched their lives as much as they have touched ours.

Our facility, located in New Jersey at 770 Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong, offers ample parking and a waiting room for the convenience of the parents. Our newly renovated dance rooms are spacious and airy and boast an extremely clean atmosphere for your children.
